Btc Ifp False Signal

Finding

The weakest assumption fails in a specific way: the ETF era created a large, custodian-controlled Bitcoin demand channel that exchange netflow cannot fully see. That supports downgrading the raw pulse, but it does not prove that every exchange-flow print is useless.

What changed

As of Aug 28, US spot Bitcoin ETFs had about $54.7B of cumulative net inflows and $97.59B of net assets, while IBIT alone held 777,235.14770 BTC worth $60,889,192,172.04. The SEC also permitted in-kind crypto ETP creations and redemptions in July 2025, making the path from investor demand to on-chain exchange activity less direct.

Decision

Change the action now: remove raw inter-exchange flow pulse from standalone directional entry and exit rules. Keep it as a secondary liquidity, custody, and anomaly flag. Use ETF creations/redemptions as the closer institutional-channel measure, but require price, spot-volume, and derivatives confirmation before acting.

Watch next

Rehabilitate exchange flow only if point-in-time labeled user deposits and withdrawals repeatedly lead returns or spot selling after controlling for ETF flow and market conditions. Conversely, downgrade ETF flow if its own moves fail to explain price or liquidity once authorized-participant and secondary-market effects are controlled.
