Defense Spending Surge
Finding
Do not add to defense stocks on the strength of contract headlines alone; the unproven step is turning large awards into delivered missiles and profitable sales.
What changed
A July PAC-3 award and September propulsion award made demand more concrete, but the motor supplier's new facilities are not expected to operate until 2027, and most federal programs are temporarily funded at prior-year levels.
Decision
Keep existing, appropriately sized exposure if already held; do not initiate or enlarge a broad defense position now. Reassess individual manufacturers when output, funding and costs can be checked together.
